Leave The Old Rectory and return to the High Street. Turn left and cross the brideg over the river. Turn L along the B724 and continue to junction with B725 (7 miles). Turn L along B725 as far as Bankend (11.5 miles). Turn R along Bankend Road (SP Dumfries?) and carry on into Dumfries (17 miles).
At T (B726) bear R along Nith Bank becomes St. Michael Street. At T with A756, turn L and then R before St. Michae's Bridge into Dockhead, becomes White Sands. at end, turn L onto Buccleuch St / Galloway St and cross river. Turn R into Terregles St (18 miles) becomes Terregles Road. Cross A75 (bridge) and carry on to Terregles (20.5 miles). Keep on main road through Shawhead (24.5 miles). Take R turn in Shawhead and first L (26 miles) climbing towards Glen. Eventually join A712, turning R at X.
Stay on A712 through Corsock (35 miles) and carry on to Balmaclellan (42 miles). Turn R here and at T R again (B7075). At T with A702, turn L (44 miles) and stay on A702 into St. John's Town of Dalry. Find The Porridge House in Main Street.
